THEO-101: Foundations of Faith

Why do we believe in Allah? In an age of skepticism, this course offers clear, purpose-driven answers, exploring the beauty, meaning, and impact of faith on individuals and the world. Students will delve into the pillars of Iman—understanding the attributes of Allah, the prophets, divine books, destiny, the Day of Judgment, and the Afterlife. The course also addresses common misconceptions, such as the "problem of evil" and the question of free will, helping students increase their certainty in Allah and Islam as a way of life. By the end of this course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to live purposefully in light of their beliefs.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS

Br. Naeem Baig

Naeem graduated with an honors citation from the University of Maryland with a degree in business. He is currently a 5th year student in the Qalam Alimiyyah program and a teaching assistant with Qalam Academy. He memorized the Quran in College Park, MD and has served various communities and organizations in the DMV area, conducting various halaqat, khutbahs, and youth programming.

Br. Muneer Zuhurudeen 

Muneer has been studying the Islamic Sciences with Qalam in a full time and part time capacity since 2016. He has served in various roles within the Muslim community, including previously teaching introductory Arabic to adult learners and serving as Associate Muslim Chaplain at the University of Maryland. Professionally, he works at a consulting firm as an AI program lead. Outside of his day job, he is a car enthusiast and enjoys spending time with his wife and young son.
